Hamad Alshuail

Preparing coffee has several methods that will give a different taste to the coffee and unique flavors. Each method will be keen to develop distinct flavors different from each other. There is no preferred method, but some ancient methods of preparing this legacy still exist today. Such as Ethiopia using the Jebanah tool and they are still doing the traditional coffee celebrations. The Arabs also roast their coffee light roast (cinnamon roast) using a wide pan called in Arabic “Muhmas” then they grind it and brew it in the Arabic coffee pot “Dallah”.

The methods of preparation are divided according to the method of coffee making and they are following.

Drip:

It is one of the most famous and preferred methods to the world. This method is often used to suppress the filtration of either a paper or metal filter to filter the coffee and to extract its flavor without it fines, and often the result will be medium strength and balanced flavors.

The most famous dripping tools: the Chemex tool, Phoenix 70, V60 and other dripping tools of the same idea.

Steeping:

The first known coffee making method is to brew the coffee with hot water and leave it for a period of time.

As in Arabic coffee, it is prepared by boiling the coffee for a while and then serving it. Also Turkish coffee and Ethiopian coffee uses the same method.

It is simple and some brewing tools offer to filter the coffee as a French Press either with a paper or metal filters.

The strength of the cup will often be heavy and the flavors are sharp. The most famous tools for Steeping: the French press tool like Espro P7, the Clever coffee dripper, the Arabic pot “Dallah”, the Turkish pot “Ibrik” and the cold brewing.

Vacuum(Siphon):

It is based on the vacuuming of water and its integration with coffee and then the coffee drink withdrawal to be ready to drink. The tool is one of the inventions of the ancient Arabs in the chemistry that the Germans in the new age used in the preparation of coffee more than two centuries ago. The result of this tool is clean flavors with moderate texture. The most popular tools for vacuuming: Siphon tool.

Pressure:

One of the most sensitive ways to prepare coffee for an additional factor is pressure, where the pressure will have a clear effect on the resulting cup. The presence of pressurized water on the coffee surface that will brew the coffee in a short period of time. As in espresso machines that generate water pressure on coffee to produce a shot of espresso with a golden layer.

Pressure Tools: Espresso Machines and aeropress tool.

There is no ideal or number one method that the whole world agrees on but surely the rule is to sip coffee in the way it suits you.
